Abstract In general, three technologies are required to build simulators of shipbuilding production and offshore installation. At first, the motion of the objects should be generated with reality as if a worker or operator is on board. This can be obtained by multibody dynamics with hydrostatics and hydrodynamics. Secondly, the view of the worker should be immersive. The virtual reality (VR) technology can be used to construct the simulator windows. Thirdly, the motion of the objects should be transferred to the hardware to give the realistic motion to the worker. At this time, a motion platform can be used to generate the motion of the cranes. Because those three technologies are developed individually, it is not easy to exchange data each other. To solve this problem, an integrated simulation framework based on three different kinds of technologies is proposed in this study. Using the integrated simulation framework, we can synchronize the simulation time and exchange data through the middleware with standardized data structure. If we used the proposed framework, it is very useful to connect new modules or to remove existing modules. To verify the efficiency and applicability of the proposed framework, it is applied to the Drillship motion analysis and visualization.
