Abstract Recently, interest in smart ships is increasing day by day. In order to realize a smart ship, the ship itself must be smart and automated (autonomous operation), and tasks in the design, production, and operation stages must also be smart and automated in consideration of efficiency and safety. In other words, there is a need to automate processes such as drawing recognition and regulation review, which have been performed manually by designers in the design stage. And there is a need to automate crane operations that have relied on the experience of field workers during production. In addition, it is necessary to maximize safety by minimizing collision accidents caused by human error during the operation stage. Artificial intelligence, including deep learning, can be applied to realize smart and automation in the design, production, and operation stages, and this presentation introduces examples of artificial intelligence applied in many problems on various fields.
